Building Your Agent · Article 4 of 6
Your agent's voice is the first thing every caller hears. Choosing the right one significantly affects how your business is perceived and how comfortable callers feel sharing information. This article explains the available voices and how to pick the best one for your business.
Where to find voice selection
Go to Agents → Edit → Agent Setup. Scroll down past the system prompt field to the Voice section. Each voice has a sample clip — always listen before committing.

How to choose
Ask yourself two questions:
- What feeling do you want to give callers? Trusted and competent? Warm and caring? Professional and formal? Energetic and approachable?
- What does your caller base expect? A plumber's customer calling about a burst pipe wants confidence, not chirpy friendliness. A spa's customer wants warmth.
💡
Listen as your customer, not as yourself
Play each sample and imagine you're a customer calling your business with a real problem. Which voice makes you feel most confident the person on the other end can help? That's your voice. Your personal preference may not match your callers' preference.
Quick guide by industry
🔧
Trades & Home Services
Jordan or Sam. Callers want to feel the business is capable and will get the job done. A direct, confident voice signals competence.
🏥
Healthcare & Wellness
Aria. Callers may be anxious or in discomfort. A warm, calm voice reduces stress and builds trust quickly.
⚖️
Legal & Financial
Marcus or Aria. Callers need to feel they're dealing with a credible, serious professional. Formality matters.
🛍️
Retail & Hospitality
Zara or Ellis. These callers respond well to enthusiasm and friendliness — they're often in a buying mindset.
🏢
Agencies (multi-client)
Ellis is safest for agencies — it fits every sector without being wrong for any of them. Or pick per-client.
🏠
Property & Real Estate
Sam or Marcus. Property callers often want quick, clear answers — they're evaluating multiple options simultaneously.
Changing the voice later
You can change your agent's voice at any time — go back to Agent Setup, select a new voice, and sync. The change takes effect on the next call. There's no downtime and your training material, system prompt, and call history are all unaffected.
ℹ️
The voice and the name should match
If you name your agent "Jordan" but choose a clearly feminine voice, callers may notice the mismatch. Either match the name to the voice character, or use a gender-neutral name like "Ellis", "Sam", or "Alex" that works with any voice.
