Call forwarding is the most common point of failure for VoiceForge Pro deployments — not because it's complicated, but because it's easy to set up incorrectly, and because carriers occasionally reset it. This article covers every common forwarding issue and how to fix it.

Calls aren't forwarding at all

🔍
Check forwarding is still active
On iPhone: go to Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding. The toggle should be on and the forwarding number shown. On Android: Phone app → Settings → Calls → Call forwarding. Confirm the VoiceForge number is the destination.
🔍
Forwarding was cancelled by a carrier update
Some carriers reset forwarding settings after software updates or SIM reseating. If forwarding was working before and has stopped, check the settings and re-enter the forwarding number if needed.
🔍
The VoiceForge number was entered incorrectly
Make sure the full international format is used — including the country code. For a UK number: +44 20 7946 0891 not 020 7946 0891. For a US number: +1 212 555 0123 not 212 555 0123. Missing or incorrect country codes are a very common cause of forwarding failure.

Some calls forward, some don't

🔍
You're only forwarding one condition
If you're using conditional forwarding (busy / no answer / unreachable), only calls matching that condition forward. For full coverage, enable all three conditions. See Using your existing number for the different forwarding modes.
🔍
WiFi calling is interfering
On some devices, calls made over WiFi bypass the carrier forwarding settings. Try temporarily disabling WiFi calling (Settings → Phone → WiFi Calling) to see if forwarding works on mobile data. If it does, the issue is WiFi call routing on your carrier.

Forwarding works but agent doesn't answer

🔍
Agent is not Active or not synced
If the call reaches the VoiceForge number but isn't answered, the agent may be paused, in draft, or unsynced. Check Agents → [agent] → status and ensure the agent is Active and has been synced. See Agent not answering.
🔍
Caller hears ringing but no pickup
If the caller hears extended ringing with no pickup, the forwarded call is reaching VoiceForge but the agent isn't connecting. This is rare and usually a temporary platform issue. Check the VoiceForge status page or contact support.

USSD forwarding codes reference

If Settings menus aren't working, most carriers support direct dial forwarding codes:

ActionCodeExample
Unconditional forward — activate**21*[number]#**21*+442079460891#
Unconditional forward — cancel##21#Dial and press call
No answer forward — activate**61*[number]#**61*+442079460891#
Busy forward — activate**67*[number]#**67*+442079460891#
Unreachable forward — activate**62*[number]#**62*+442079460891#
Cancel all forwarding##002#Dial and press call

Replace [number] with the full VoiceForge number including country code. Dial the code and press the call button — you should hear a confirmation tone or see a success message.
