Upgrading your plan takes effect immediately — new limits, new credit allowance, all at once. This article walks through how to upgrade, how billing is prorated, and what to do if you need to downgrade.

How to upgrade

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Click Change plan
  3. Select the plan you want to upgrade to
  4. Confirm payment — the upgrade processes immediately

You don't need to wait for your next billing date. The moment the upgrade completes, your account reflects the new plan — more agents, more numbers, and a top-up to your credit allowance.

How billing works when you upgrade mid-cycle

When you upgrade partway through a billing period, VoiceForge Pro prorates the cost automatically. You pay only for the time remaining on the higher plan, and receive credit for unused time on your old plan.

Example — upgrading LIVE → AMPLIFY on Day 15 of 30
Credit for unused LIVE days
15 days remaining × ($30 ÷ 30) = $15.00 credit
−$15.00
AMPLIFY charge for remaining 15 days
15 days × ($81 ÷ 30) = $40.50
$40.50
Amount charged today
Net upgrade charge — billed immediately
$25.50
From next billing date: $81.00/month for AMPLIFY

Credits when you upgrade

When you upgrade, your credit allowance increases immediately. The top-up is prorated to match the remaining days in the billing cycle:

  • Your existing credit balance is preserved
  • You receive a prorated top-up of the credit difference between plans
  • From the next billing date, you receive the full new plan credit allowance
ℹ️
Upgrades never waste credits you've already paid for
Any credits remaining from your previous plan at the time of upgrade are added to your new balance. You never lose credits you've earned through your existing subscription.

Switching to annual billing

You can switch from monthly to annual billing at any time from Settings → Billing → Change billing period. Switching to annual:

  • Takes effect immediately — you're billed the annual amount today
  • Saves 25% vs paying monthly for 12 months
  • Sets your renewal date 12 months from today
  • Any remaining days on your current monthly cycle are credited against the annual charge

Downgrading

You can downgrade to a lower plan at any time. Unlike upgrades, downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle — not immediately. You keep your current plan's features and limits until the billing period ends.

⚠️
Check your agent and number count before downgrading
If you currently have more agents or numbers than the lower plan allows, you'll need to reduce them before the downgrade takes effect. For example, downgrading from SURGE (10 agents) to AMPLIFY (3 agents) requires you to deactivate 7 agents first. If you don't, the downgrade will be blocked and you'll remain on SURGE.

Cancelling your subscription

To cancel, go to Settings → Billing → Cancel subscription. Cancellation stops future billing — your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period, then your account reverts to SIGNAL (free tier) or is paused if you were on SIGNAL.

Cancelling does not delete your account or data. Your agents, call logs, and transcripts remain accessible. You can resubscribe at any time.

💡
Downgrade rather than cancel if you're just slow
If you're going through a quiet period, consider downgrading to LIVE ($30/mo) rather than cancelling entirely. Your agents stay live, your number stays provisioned, and your configuration is preserved. Cancelling means reprovisioning a number when you return — and your old number may no longer be available.
